Is it normal for port to be sore, it's been a week since placed. I know the incision should b, just unsure about the port itself. It's not b used yet.
It took a bit for residual aching to disappear, and I continue to find it uncomfortable. But I agree with the others: you'll be glad it's there. Over time, you won't notice it as much. Big hugs!
@A MyBCTeam Member My port and also the neck area was sore for a couple weeks. I believe I have had it for about 6 weeks now. I tried to use my veins but they gave out:( The port is much easier. ***EMLA Cream. Be sure to ask your nurse to apply (Lidocaine?) some emla cream at least 30 min prior to using the port. I dont feel a thing when they insert the needle/catheter.
It is sore for awhile and it has only been a week. You will get used to it and glad that you have it - hang in there.
Yes, mine was sore for awhile. Now, that I have it used every week there's no soreness.
I think I remember mine being sore for a couple of weeks. You won't even notice it after a while.
