I understand your pain... I had type 1 DM for 40 yrs prior to kidney/pancreas plant in 2011. The neuropathies can be misery. You mention joint pain- do you have arthritis or fibromyalgia? If your BC is Estrogen + or Progesterone + it is unlikely you will be able to do HRT. Nor I imagine you would want to do so. I have read that gabopentin (neurontin) can Jhelum in relieving hot flashes and it can also be an effective treatment for painful peripheral neuropathy, so you might get two for the price of one - so to speak. If you cancer was fueled by female hormone the probability will be greater with hormone replacement therapy.

My onco score is 9.Mutifocal,node negative.ER/PR positive maglignancy. Left Breast S/P Total mastectomy.Endocrine/Hormonal therapy. Like I said I checked into this a lot, before I made my decision.

Hi Karen, I, like you, thankfully, do not require chemo or radiation. Nor, would I be a good candidate for either of those treatments due to other health conditions. I just want to clarify, because I think I am confused... When you say hormone replacement therapy (HRT) are you referring to taking Estrogen and/or Progesterone or are you referring to the Aromatase Inhibitors or so called Estrogen Blockers such as Arimidex, Femera and Aromasin? I'm unclear then on what you have decided not to do based on your post a few hours ago.
We all need to make out own informed decisions on this "BC journey" and to weigh the pros and cons of everything, but I would encourage you (If I may be so bold) to consider what even a 10% risk might mean for the future. Also wondering if you got an onco score?
I'm the interest of full disclosure I had an onco score of 20 and am taking Depo Lupron and Aromasin. I hate what they do to me, but I hate cancer more.
