Hi Marsha, I do have some side effects, but the benefits for my numbers out weigh the side effects for my particular case. I agree Jane, you should try what your doctor suggests. They seem to have alternatives if your find side effects are too much. I have a couple of friends who have experienced no side effects to speak of. Everyones case is different.

I would like to know how some women say that Tamoxifen only helps 1%... My oncologist told me that Tamoxifen reduced my chances of recurrence by 50% . It reduced my risk of recurrence from 30% (average for all breast cancer patients) to 15%. My understanding is that Tamoxifen reduces the risk or recurrence by 50% for estrogen positive tumours. For estrogen positive tumours, taking Tamoxifen is more beneficial than chemo (which I had and my oncologist said benefited me by only 5%). This is what I have been told and this is why I will take Tamoxifen, regardless of the side-effects... My understanding is that I had a 30% recurrence rate, which chemo reduced by 5% and Tamoxifen by 50% . So, my current "statistical" rate of recurrence is low 10%. Put another way, I have a more than 80% chance of survival. Hope I don't confuse further...

No side effects here, go in with a positive attitude, good chance you will tolerate it well.

I have no side effects what so ever. I take potassium and magnesium for muscle cramping and it helps. At first I had little bit of hot flashes but those subsided.
