So, do I understand this right- if your oncotype comes back over 30, it means chemo. Since I had : DCIS in right breast, no LN unvolvement & oncotype result = 17. Had IDC in left breast with 2 lymph nodes involved, oncotype =39. Any radiation? Am just soooo confused. When is radiation recommended? Have had Bil mast over a month ago Need help
radiation is prescribed is to with the tumor and eradicate any chance of reoccurrence at that site. Chemo is prescribed as a result of nodal invasion and is used to sanitize your system and eradicate any undetectable cancer cells.
My oncotype was an 11. IDC with micrometasis. Had lumpectomy. Still needed radiation
My understanding is, myM BS state I have invasive colloid carcinoma with low grade DCIS, treatment Lumpectomy and radiation, if I have MX I would not need radiation. Hope this helps.
Your oncologist will recommend your treatment plan once results are in. In my case, I have IDC with one node involved. I am waiting on Onco results. My doctor recommended that if my results are 17 or less, no chemo. But if I fall in the intermediate risk group, he will order chemo.
Your doctors should be making recommendations to you based on all the information they have gathered.
