Like any psych med it takes 4-6 weeks to become therapeutic. How many mg are you on? I had to take the maximum 150mg.

If your oncologist allows it, I suggest evening primrose oil, vitamin E and black cohosh. The anti depressants did nothing for me other than made me gain weight. My oncologist put me on megace and that seems to be helping in addition to all of my supplements. Good luck, I know how awful hot flashes are. :(

Is that generic effexor ? because if it is you should have some relief in about four weeks. It really has helped make my life better. I have maybe one or two mild ones a day now. Hope this helps.

It depends the mgs your provider started you on. My oncologist had to up mine to 150mg before it started helping.

I took it for one night and the day after was terrible with side effects, I think I am stopping it already, the nausea was happening as often as the flashes. Not sure what is worse. Wonder if the side effects lesson over time.
