I take Femara and have had the bone and joint pain...plus some other side effects but I am on it for 10 years due to the Staging of my cancer. After awhile sometimes you can adapt, or it may get a bit better. For some people the side effects go away. I am just plowing through it, trying to keep moving, etc. The side effects are the main reason people stop taking the meds. It's a hard choice but I am sticking with it (for as long as I possibly can)

Hi @A MyBCTeam Member,
All of the hormone blocking Meds basically works the same & have similiar s/e. For me it's the right decision but understand it is an individual decision. Good luck to you & yours.

Have you asked your doctor about trying a different one? I wouldn't want to risk being off of it. I've been off mine for almost 3 years to start my family, and am really anxious to get back on.

Maryelizabeth, i do feel your pain. My oncologist was not real thrilled either but i have to live in this body. I figured i would'nt have much quality of life with all the side effects. I was stage one, no nodes.brac clear so i felt ok about my descision. Go to the femara site and you will see we are not alone with horrible side effects. Sometimes i think "big pharma" is more harmful and profits is their main goal. Big hugs and positive thoughts and prayers coming your way. The trigger thumb surgery was'nt nothing and i got instant releif. I had it on right thumb too and waited it out and it took about a year and was sooo painful. Wish i would have known back then! My ps was a hand surgeon first and he took care of it in about 7-10 minutes! :-)

I'm on anastrozole (Arimidex generic) and so far, so good. What little joint pain I have I just get moving, plus drink lots of water to stay hydrated.
