I have survived mastectomy, chemo, radiation, and now on Tamoxifen for 5 yrs then arimadex for another 5 yrs. Second chemo put me into menapause and tamoxifen keeps me there. I was close to they stage in life anyway. The vaginal dryness and tightness causes so much discomfort. I can't imagine ever having intercourse again. What have any of you tried to treat these side effects of treatment?
Hi. I have a total hysterectomy 8 months prior to my bilateral mastectomy. I haven't had any issues until just recently. My oncologist prescribed estring. It's a vaginal estrogen ring that is supposed to help the vaginal tissues from atrophy. The estrogen from it stays in the vaginal tissues, it doesn't go systemically. I haven't tried it yet but I'm I will be very soon. Good luck!
Use coconut oil for intercourse. It works well...
There are prescription creams that can help and they don't have estrogen in them. My Gyno said to let her know if I need something.
I would ask your OD for something. My dr told me to watch using a hormone cream since the cancer was estrogen positive in my case. Or try good ole KY jelly.
My periods returned after 16 months and at age 46 - some chemo induced menopause isn't permanent
