I am wondering if any of you ladies have experienced erratic and long periods while on Tamoxifen. Instead of non-existent periods, I am getting them every 15 days or so and they last for 7-10 days. I've only been on Tamoxifen for about 3 months now. I had a pelvic ultrasound before I started Tamoxifen. I have two complex cysts and fibroids. The erratic periods is only one of two side effects. I am as freaked as you. My Mom and her sister had uterine cancer so I already feel predisposed. Plus I am feeling aches and pains and experiencing some cognitive problems along with splitting headaches. Do not know if I can blame it all on Tamoxifen only way to know I guess is to stop for a few months and see how I feel. Planning on talking to my ONC next visit. Will keep u posted.
Update: I went to my gyno and as a precaution I had an ultrasound and endometrial biopsy. I'll get the results in 4-7 days. She keeps telling me she's not concerned but I can't help but worry. They said the same thing when I had my breast biopsy and was diagnosed with breast cancer. "Its not cancer, don't worry!"
@A MyBCTeam Member good luck! i thought i read somewhere that Tamoxifen can cause headaches and pains. I had muscle pain in the first two months that has gotten better and is almost non-existent. My onc told me that if the pain gets better, its most likely not a recurrence. Pain gets more severe and doesn't come and go with mets. They also told me a typical mets/recurrence headache is one that starts right when you wake up and gets worse throughout the day. They said thats TYPICAL and not always the case. Hope that helps!?
