Starting Zometa IV for bone loss. I heard the side effects can be nasty. Has anyone had experience with this drug? Thank you :)
I have had them every month for 18 months! I have no symptoms anymore. Mother first few were a little tough, but eventually my body was getting used to getting the medication. You can do this! Good luck! Zometa is a piece of cake compared to chemo or radiation! Lynn

Yup, I get the infusion twice yearly. My next one is actually this Wednesday. The day after the infusion I get some flu like symptoms, but that's it. My joints are achy, but that is likely the tamoxifen and/or oopherectomy side effects. You'll be fine!
My M.O. wants me to start Zometa injections right after radiation. He says a lot of women have tried it. I read it's used to treat high blood levels of calcium caused by cancer and multiple myeloma. Multile myeloma is the most primary bone cancer. It is malignant tumor of bone marrow. Does anyone else take this injection? The side effects don't sound good at all. I think I'm going to pass this injection and just take my Arimidex for 5 yrs. This Zometa was never discussed as part of my treatments when I met with my medical team 8 mos. ago. I think it is being tested!
