I start chemo in 5 days. Has anyone used the Nioxin hair system? My friend recommended and gave it to me. Do start using now or later?

A friend of mine (who is a 7 year breast cancer survivor) highly recommended using Nioxin on my scalp during chemo treatments, and afterwards. I bought the three item kit from Amazon. My oncologist's nurses has recommended the product as well. Nioxin is meant to help with extremely thinning hair. The idea for using Nioxin during hair loss is to keep the follicles and scalp very clean and healthy - and once your hair starts growing back in, it grows in faster and thicker. I've been using Nioxin since most of my hair fell out during AC treatments. I love the way it makes my scalp feel, and I've had no rashes or spots on my head. I still have more chemo to go through, but I will report back once regrowth begins.

My hair fell out about day 14. I'm using nioxin every day to encourage regrowth. Idk if it s helping tho. I'll start biotin after chemo, and prenatals. Wait until your dr. Oaks supplements. It's frustrating I know. I had long red curls. :( that I loved. I just got some wigs to wear.

Nothing will keep your hair from falling out. I used Nioxin, Biotin, and minoxidil. My hair fell out on day 16. It. Was. Awful!!!!

I used Nioxon after I was totally done with chemo. I was told it basically cleanses your scalp of all the toxins from chemo and puts your scalp in the best condition for regrowth. My best friend did not use anything and honestly, our results were the same. you just never know!

I had my last chemo on Oct.30,2013 and never used anything special on my hair during chemo and my hair came back just as thick and is growing.
