I was told today that I would only have to do 3 fills, is that good? So I should be finished with my fill around what month you think ladies? I forgot to ask:-)
It depends how much they are filling the expanders each time and how often. It will also depend what size you are trying to get to. I am trying to get the size I had which was a "D" cup. The surgeons measure in cc's so for me it's hard to tell how many cc's I will need. Consult with your surgeon to make sure you agree with how much they are filling you. I currently have 300 cc's and still have more to go. On me the 300cc's looks small. Good luck!
It is the size of the fills and if you are over the capacity that affect the pain involved. I had 120cc at insertion, then my PS added 60cc a week until I was at 360cc and no pain at all (my tissue expanders were size 400cc). The next two at 60cc hurt as the muscle and skin stretched (for 3 days each time). I started showing small stretch marks and the PS and I decided that was enough at a total of 480cc. It would be different for varying sizes of expanders and how much skin the surgeons left. My cancer side is much tighter and higher and the PS says she will even them out when the real inserts are placed. Good luck Felice!
@A MyBCTeam Member it will depend on you and what you think. I had my 2nd fill Today. I was told on 3 fills. They completed most of mine during my surgery. I take a muscle relaxer or Advil(2) 1 hour before my visit because of the feeling and tightening per my PS nurse. I have 1 more fill to go. I do not want to walk around like Pamela Anderson - lol. It will be what you feel comfortable with because each fill will be a little bit uncomfortable for about 2 days. I have had a total of 475 CC's
Be your own advocate. If they are doing three big fills of 100+ cc, you may find you are uncomfortable. Some people tolerate it well, but many find it very uncomfortable.
I was a slow and steady. It took seven trips with fills of 50 or 75, depending on how I was feeling. I went weekly except for the last week when I did on on Monday and one on Friday since it was spring break and I was off.
I started fills on March 5 and had last on April 11th. My exchange was May 1.
Fills are usually every week. So three weeks for three fills. :)
