My Dr. said 2 weeks if you feel up to it but it was 3 weeks before I drove!

I had prophylactic bilateral mastectomy and immediate reconstruction. My discharge paperwork said no driving while under the influence of pain meds. Since I'm a single mom with adult children and at that time the only one with a driver's license. I would not take my pain meds so I could do errands or a store run. I was driving the day of discharge :)

I started driving after one week.

I drove once I was no longer taking vicoprofen during the day, roughly after a week. I got a long, soft, flat pillow (it's actually a high chair pad from IKEA) to which I sewed fasteners that i could run around the seat belt where it would hit my scat. I still use it for long car rides and I'm now almost 10 months post BMX.

Everyone is different.. I am still not driving & it's been 3 weeks! See my surgeon next week so I'm hoping I can soon. I don't think it's safe to drive while drains are in.
