I got mine out one month after my last infusion. And I was also high risk for recurrence. I like what @A MyBCTeam Member said. Also getting it out helps you move forward believing you are a survivor. It's now been 5 years for me since having it out. 😄

I had my port removed 3 weeks after my last chemo. They said I had to wait the 3 weeks to make sure my blood counts were back to normal. Not sure why they would make you keep it in place for 2 whole years!

I was told I would need to keep mine in for two years since that it the highest risk for recurence.

Have no clue.

Sorry I am going crazy, start to repeat myself, already had on here how long I got this port in and when it comes out. Had a new weird thing going on, was wondering if on of you all had anything like this. Last week I have broken out in very painful sores all over my legs and thighs,got a fever that went up to a 103. The last sore was so big, it covered my right tight completely, it got so bad that the nurse at work send me home and the doctor took me out for a week. Any one?
