I think it all depends in how your reconstruction was done. My silicone implants are in pockets that were created in my chest muscle. Going without my sports bra my chest muscle really starts to spasms and becomes uncomfortable.

I was also told no underwires by my PS. I have silicone implants & I don't wear a bra. I haven't worn one since October of 2012 when I started radiation. My PS said I don't need one.

Mine PS told me NOT to wear underwire bras as they can damage the new 'shelf' that was created to hold my expanders and eventually implants. I would definitely suggest going to a bra shop where they can measure you to ensure you get fitted properly. Good luck!

I've read that with PS it seems to be a battle of the underwires...they are split on the idea. I was hoping mine would be in the don't wear underwire group as I too had nodes removed and had Mondors and am not excited about this new venture in pain. All I can say is I will shop for one and if I find one I'll give it a try but I'm not going to torture myself.

I was told not to wear underwire bras. So did a lot of other BC survivors in my support group.
