So... If never smoking, rarely drinking, exercising everyday, eating healthy and not being overweight didn't prevent my BC how will it reduce my recurrence risk?

I'm right there with you Carol57. Same story all the things that I didn't do couldn't prevent it then what do I need to do to not have a reoccurence. The one thing I have done which I'm sure you have is the whole situation throws you into research. I have spoken to a dietian and have done alot of research myself. I do know being healthy and active can help me from not developing other ailments. My BC is fueled by estrogen which I was positive for. I have read something on estrogen infused meats we eat, which could have contributed to my problem. When I challenge the doctors for answers they tell me they don't know or are silent. So far the conclusion that I I'm coming to is the food we eat. Breast Cancer is growing at such an alarming rate. One thing we all have in common is we have to eat so maybe there is some connection I don't know. But rest assured I will continue to look for the same answer as you.

@A MyBCTeam Member - good answer, just need to add - reduce stress...stress causes inflammation.

I truly believe my BC was due to being on Premarin (female hormone) for 17 years. I would ask my PCP a lot of times about whether I needed to be on it and he didn't see a need to discontinue. My tumor was HR positive, I was pretty healthy and there is no history of BC in my first degree relatives. So I get BC but will never know if it was from so many years on the hormone.

@A MyBCTeam Member, I may be being cynical, but I don't think there will ever be "cure" for cancer. I think cancer maybe treated as chronic disease such has HIV, but curing means no more drugs to sell. That's way too much money for these huge drug companies who are also big lobbyist in Washington.

It won't - but it will increase the quality of your life, which is important to enjoy.
