I haven't worn a bra since my lumpectomy in 2010. I wore sports bras for a really long time...had one in every color made! They worked for a long time and then I just got to the point where I just stopped wearing them. I wear tank tops now...no more bras. The bras hurt my incision area and so I just stopped wearing them. But the sports bras really are comfortable.

Immediately after surgery I didn’t wear anything tight fitting; I wore a loose-fitting bra; and then later, I got a prescription for bras from a shop specializing in post-surgery and mastectomy patients. Find a medical supply store near you and get a prescription from your provider; Insurance paid for 6 bras for me.

I go to a bra shop near my house and they are really pretty. My insurance pays a portion of it. You might want to look into a specialty place to buy bras with women who have had breast cancer. I get new bras every year and my insurance pays a portion each year. I do not wear underwire bras anymore. There is a lot of talk with underwire and breast cancer. So I chose not to wear them anymore.

My PS and my BS did not want me to wear a bra after my BMX, they recommended camisoles. All docs are different

My dr recommended sports bras which don't rub and if you have drains you can attach a pin or or camisoles with built in bra.. you should get a small ice pack to put in your bra for your incisions.Buy the big bandage or graze to place against your wounds.
