im two weeks out of chemo and they are still just as nasty... :( wish there was a solution..i think just time

I had trouble with my nails both fingers and toes. Mine never fell off just felt really sore and black & blue. I used a polish type oil on them to condition them. It can be found at any beauty supply store, Solar Oil cuticle conditioner. I put that on a few times a day. Also they told me to keep a clear polish on them to protect them. It is now 5 months out from chemo and my fingernails are back to normal but my toenails are still slightly dark. I really had a tough time with this too. I hope I was able to help.

They lifted but never fell off. I pushed neosporin down into the opening when they began oozing. Eventually they reattached on their own.

I lost all but 4 nails after 12 weekly taxol treatments but it's very rare. The keratin-based material that connects your nails to the beds simply dries and the nail lifts. There was no pain. Beneath the nail there is a hard keratin layer that protects your skin. Took 3 months to grow back fingernails and a full year to grow back my big toenail.

Mine turned brown, lifted and two got infection underneath them. Just keep them cut short, so you don't catch them on anything. Takes about five months for all of that to grow out.
