@ Robiann ,I had ovaries removed I was on lupron but, I had family history of ovarian cancer. I had two DR agree to do this and oncologist did not feel necessary.

I had the hysterectomy because I tested positive for the BRCA gene. It was suggested by my Oncologist as well as my genetics oncologist. It was the easiest surgery ever! Robotic assisted. 2 weeks post surgery I felt totally normal!

I suggest keeping it for a while, I had mine taken out in May 2006 and by Oct 2006 I needed it again. I have had 3

My oncologist recommended I have it removed as soon as I felt like it, but encouraged me not to wait too long. He feels patients can become superstitious in keeping it, thinking that once it's out they might have a recurrence and need it.

I kept mine thinking they could use it a month later for my hysterectomy (12/16/13) but they didn't. Now I am just waiting to hear the routine pathology report post hysterectomy is clean. I can't wait to get this lumpy thing out although it was a God send! It just kinda creeps me out!

Brenda I meant to say blood work haha. I realized I sent it saying bloodworm. I think I would have done the same thing having the port out same time as other surgery. I was freaked out when they told me they were doing it right in the office and just numbing the area to take it out but everything went fine and I didn't feel a thing. I figured I been through enough with all the needles and surgery, what's another needle numbing the area and removing the port.
