Looking For Feedback On Taxotere And Herceptin Side Effects.
I had 3 rounds of uneventful chemo and am now 8 days post TAxotere and herceptin 4th treatment. iIt has so far been terribly demoralizing. Does it get better?...do I grow out of the side effects. Do they lift? Bone pain, joint pain, itchy skin, rash, nausea, vomiting, mouth sores, loss of appetite completely.....worried how to help myself....
huge weight loss overall....50 -60 lbs since the summer. Not looking good If I have no tastebuds suddenly.
In retrospect now...Taxotere was far more unpleasant than the first drugs of my chemo. The first time I was switched over to it was the worst...the remaining two a bit better. I recall all the things you mentioned above...tastebuds really left the building...no appetite...couldn't bear coffee...which I absolutely love.
Then it was over. And chemo was a thing of the past. I am on Herceptin for a year....and I experienced absolutely no side effects from Herceptin at all. Good luck to you wherever you are in your journey.
Have had 3 treatments of Taxotere with Herceptin and Perjeta. The first treatment was the most difficult. Now after each treatment, days 4-9 are a little unpleasant: indigestion, tastebuds out of whack, tongue extremely sensitive/irritated by texture of food, some joint pain, loss of appetite. Ibuprofin helps for joint pain; I drink Gatorade since I can't stand water; drink lattes since coffee is now vile; I look for food that is bland and appealing. All in all, not too bad. After day 8, I start getting back to semi-normal. Good luck!
taxotere was awful for me too. you'll survive but it ain't pretty. hang in there, prayers going up for you.
@A MyBCTeam Member...nice to hear from you again....where are things at?
I was thinking of you suddenly this week and lady Zelda. i have a huge bucket of tulip bulbs YET to plant and i was thinking to tell you to go buy a beautiful selection and plant a very dedicated patch in honor of Lady Zelda. And next spring..you will smile and be full of love and fondness for your time together. I wrote a children's book for my grief psychologist cousin...for her to use in her practice. It was on the subject of facing a death as only a child..and we used pet loss as the story. At our book launch, we gave away seed packets of Forget Me Nots.....as an example for our guests of one of the powerful ways we can support our grief and move forward.
And, yes, it does get better. With my first tumor, I didn't think that the treatment would ever end. And feeling so horribly "low" did nothing for my mood and sense of humor. THis time, I've felt much better.
Has Anyone Else Had Severe Leg Cramps After Having Herceptin? I Get Them About Two Weeks After.
