I am 35 and had triple negative BC last year. I have chosen to remove my ovaries and uterus due to BRCA 1 mutation next month. I was wondering if anyone who opted for this is receiving hormone therapy? Being triple negative, my Oncology gynecologist wants to put me on a low dose hormone to counteract menopause symptoms and to prevent Osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. I have actually begged my doctors for hrt. they won't agree to it. I also had triple negative tumor with hysterectomy. the night sweats have been terrible and my doctors will NOT give me anything to help. I've tried celexa, and so many other antidepressants, blood pressure meds otc meds etc (i can't remember half the names) I can't see straight with no relief. if you can tolerate the night sweats they says you're better off. they have been driving me crazy!!!

If you are removing the producers of natural hormones only to replace them with synthetic hormones which have far greater risk of contributing to a cancer developing then you would be better off leaving your ovaries and taking Tamoxifen instead. It blocks your er/pr receptors while still allowing your body to produce estrogen.

I am BRCA2 and had my tubes and ovaries removed . along with a mastectomyThe pathology report discovered cancer in my tubes. Three weeks later I had the total Oophorectomy and Hysterectomy. If I could do it again, I would just have had it all done and not had to suffer through two surgeries.
