Mine was well over 3 cm, and there is not much difference in breast size or appearance so I think you will be just fine. They will not only remove the lump, but tissue surrounding ('margins') to make sure they have it all. Try and stay focused on being positive. Before cancer, I dealt with anxiety for 20 years. Its amazing how your life changes, but it will and it doesn't have to be all bad. St. Joe's is a great hospital. Keep me posted on your treatment plans Tossha! Feel free to pm me anytime or send me a personal email ( [[email: (Email address can only be seen by the question and answer creators)) as I live only an hour away. I see you have kiddos. Do you have a good support team of family/friends?
Almost two years later I feel like mine have evened out on their own.
@A MyBCTeam Member, I've had 4 lumpectomies. Your breast cancer surgeon will not even out your breast once the cancerous tissue is removed. If you have enough tissue taken, contact a plastic surgeon (its best to get a recommendation from your breast cancer surgeon who is familiar with a P.S. that specializes in breast reconstruction). In my experience, fat transfers were a waste of $ and time. It was my own tissue but did little to add volume. I opted for a small silicone implant after my last lumpectomy and I was very happy with the results.
Didn't on mine either and my left is slightly smaller than right. Cannot tell when I am wearing things
