Yes I had to come off it two weeks before and after surgery due to possible clots. This is a side effect of Tamoxifen possibly and a precautionary step I was told. I will be coming off again soon for my exchange surgery for my expander to implant. I feel comfortable doing this because of the amount of time i will be on drug...I was told there is a 60 day uptake of tamoxifen in your system so I am comfortable with my levels while not taking it.

I'm curious what does tamoxifen have to do with implants. I was never told to stop. I have an implant.

Normally medical professionals will give injection of Heparin to thin the blood. The only time I had to d/c Tamoxifen was prior to my total hysterectomy and oophorectomy. It was a week prior because its invasive, exchange surgery for breast implants isn't as invasive.

I never asked why I needed to stop. My oncologist actually told me not to start until 2 weeks after my first surgery.

I was told to stop for two weeks before my surgery. My oncologist said that was fine. I actually had to stop it for 3 different surgeries. I still had all the side effects during those 2 weeks! :-(
