Wow... I missed the most important part. So sorry - here's the rest:

Inflammatory breast cancer is considered at least stage IIIB. Typical features of inflammatory breast cancer include:

reddening of a large portion of the breast skin
the breast feels warm and may be swollen
cancer cells have spread to the lymph nodes and may be found in the skin

Stage IIIC describes invasive breast cancer in which:

there may be no sign of cancer in the breast or, if there is a tumor, it may be any size and may have spread to the chest wall and/or the skin of the breast AND
the cancer has spread to lymph nodes above or below the collarbone AND
the cancer may have spread to axillary lymph nodes or to lymph nodes near the breastbone

You might want to get a copy of the biopsy results from the radiation oncology group and read through it. The types, sizes, stages, etc should be in there. If you are ever uncertain or don't understand something I encourage you to ask the oncologist for clarification and make him/her explain it until you understand. If they can't or won't then I think you should get a 2nd opinion. It's just my opinion...

You have to be your own advocate and become an expert for your own sake.

www.breastcancer.org/, www.cancer.org/, and www.aicr.org/ are pretty good sites for info. Also webmd and mayo clinic sites are good too. Susan Komen website has a lot of good information but it can scare you because the statistics they give are based on all of the data from the beginning of time and not just the last 5-10 years. When I was first diagnosed I went to the Komen.com site and was in tears by the end because I thought I was surely going to die.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance. Good luck!

I was told that I didn't have inflammatory breast cancer. So now I am confused.I did have two lymph nodes with cancer at the cenntenial point (?). The chemo got read of the tumor and the cancer at cenntenial points of the lymph nodes before surgery. After surgery I did radiation. the original plan was chemo, surgery, chemo, then rad. After surgery( there was only scar tissue)and the paths. Everything was clear,so no more chemo. So I am confused about the stage 3b, I wastold I had IDbc
