I Do Not Understand The Staging System For Breast Cancer In Situ? Can Someone Explain. I Thought In Situ Would Mean Stage 0 Or 1.
I am sorry that I am probably driving you crazy, but I just figured it out. The cancers that are in situ are not staged but graded. Now that makes sense since the grade of the tumor refers to how fast it is likely to grow. These grades come in numbers and I assumed the numbers meant stages. I had an Ah Hah moment! So you can have a tumor which has not broken from the lining of the lobe or duct, but still may be highly differentiated. Promise I won't annoy you again on this topic. You have helped me resolve this question.
@A MyBCTeam Member here is a link that might help you understand the staging system in BC http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/treatmen... hope it helps you understand better. Have a great night!
I was stage 1 with dcis but had invasive mucinous carcinoma less than 2cm
Thanks,@FreeSpirit. The way you explained it helped very much.
BTW, I am happy that for you, the cancerous cells stayed within the duct.
Really your not annoying me at all. Feel free anytime.
