Dr. Avan Armaghani is a breast medical oncologist at Moffitt Cancer Center. She received her bachelor’s degree in biological and medical sciences from the University of Florida in 2009. She continued at the University of Florida College of Medicine and received her Doctor of Medicine degree in 2012. She completed her internal medicine residency and hematology-oncology fellowship at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida.
Dr. Armaghani treats both men and women with breast cancer. She has a strong interest in medical education and mentorship. She is a core faculty member for the University of South Florida and Moffitt Cancer Center hematology-oncology fellowship program, and she serves as the fellowship breast rotation leader.
Dr. Armaghani has also served on various committees and participated in leadership initiatives locally, regionally, and nationally. She is an active member of the Hillsborough County Medical Association, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Armaghani’s project and research interests are focused on medical education and on discovering new ways to use digital technology to optimize health care delivery.
Dr. Armaghani was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida. She enjoys attending Gator football games, running, skiing, traveling, photography, playing the violin, and spending time with family and friends.
