A member with a breast cancer history shared her nerves about an upcoming colonoscopy, and the community quickly rallied with reassurance and helpful reminders. Several members offered practical advice, including placing the BP cuff away from the lymphedema-affected arm and wearing a medical alert band, while others shared their own positive colonoscopy outcomes including benign results and 10-year clearances. A recurring theme was that anxiety after cancer treatment is completely normal, and the good news came quickly when the member returned to share she had no polyps and a 10-year clear result.

Because we all know how sneaky cancer is! One of the good things about the colonoscopy is that any issues that show up, can usually be taken care of right then- and they usually go over the results with you before you leave the building! I had mine done after completing treatment- and the doctor said- see you in 10 years!! I'll take that deal any day!! Keep us posted! Hugs!

I had a colonoscopy after double mastectomy.

After being diagnosed with stage 3 BC with 4 lymph nodes cancerous I was also a bit nervous! Everything was fine. Outcome was 4 benign polyps. Hugs ❀️

As you have had a double mastectomy, someone who has had this needs to address where the BP cuff is placed for this colonoscopy procedure.

If one had had a lumpectomy, one does not have a blood pressure cuff or IV placed on that arm to protect against getting lymphedema in that arm or remaining breast.

Leg could be used…

Thank you Sue, they are aware of my history. My lymphedema is on the left side, I'll be laying down in a fetal position on that side so BP cuff wise, I'm good πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
