Scarves color coordinated with my outfits from Amazon- there are amazing selections. In the winter I wore cute beanies and little hats. Nothing around the house or family.

I rocked the bald look. If I was outside when the weather was warm I would wear one of my cowboy hats so my head didn't get sunburned. When it was cold I would wear a crocheted hat. I made about 6 hats in different styles, colors, and yarn thicknesses and I always used some sort of soft yarn.

Wig and hats for me. I wore the wig to work, etc. and beanies around the house (bald heads get cold- lol!) Scarves can be purchased pre-tied, but they just weren't me!
If you are considering a wig, have your oncologist write you an Rx for a "cranial prosthetic"- insurance lingo for wig, so you can submit it to your insurance company.
I didn't have any clue about what I might need to look for in a wig, and so the videos from Godivas Secret were super helpful. The website even has a virtual Try On feature. Good luck!

Hair loss during breast cancer treatment is such a personal journey, and there's truly no one-size-fits-all answer. MyBCTeam members have handled it in all kinds of ways!

Here's a snapshot of what others have tried:

- Wigs – Many members love wigs for feeling more like themselves. Some even bought multiple wigs to switch up their look. Pro tip: get fitted before chemo starts, as your head size can change.
- Scarves, bandanas & turbans – Great for comfort and sun protection, especially in summer.
- Hats – A simple, easy option for everyday wear.
- Going bare – Some members fully embraced their baldness and found it surprisingly freeing! One MyBCTeam member put it beautifully: "No hair, don't care! I'm embracing my baldness!" while another said wearing a wig made them feel more like themselves when going out.

Whatever feels right for you is the right choice. And if going wigless, remember to apply sunscreen to your scalp! ☀️
