I was diagnosed with IDC stage 1, last August. As a result, I had a single mastectomy last October, and had my follow up mammogram, 2 weeks ago. I was told by my breast cancer surgeon that I will continue to have yearly mammograms through their office until my 5-yr cancerversary. I will also visit their office twice yearly for a breast exam for one more year, which I was told is just as important as my yearly mammogram. As someone else mentioned earlier, the protocol for follow up mammograms depends upon the oncologist as well as one’s breast cancer diagnosis, most likely. Hello Deborah Corleone. The usual guidelines are once a year for mammogram. I had a mammogram in February of this year. I also have follow up appointments every six months with my oncologist and just had one in March and will see him again next month. So far I am doing well on Anastrozole for 3 years now. Sometimes I have fatigue. Hope to make it to my 50th high school reunion in September of this year. Take care 🌹🙏😊

Jily 28th is really close. I had mine 6 months after surgery and then yearly. It could be the difference in doctors, size of the cancer or stage. Call your nurse navigator and tell her you're concerned. She can tell you why it was a year and you will probably feel better even though you're going thr 28th. You will be much happier if you know all the facts. The worry and stress are too hard to bear. Wishing you the very best. Love and hugs.

Hello, I was told I have to get my mammogram every six months for the first year but after,that, its been once a year now.

I had a left breast mastectomy. Had a mammogram in 6 months and then a year. Ask your oncologist to explain. Hope all goes well.
