Has anyone experience dry eye disease from chemo dehydrating their eyes?

It occurred while going through chemo and now (1 year after chemo) it’s just so much worse my doctor said I’ll have to have a procedure on my eyes. I was just curious how common this is and what anyone else did for their try Eye disease. It affects me almost everyday and sometimes hard to keep my eyes open.

I am sorry you are suffering from dry eyes. My ophthalmologist prescribed restasis for my dry eyes. I see my eye doctor every 6 months.

I also drink plenty of fluids every day. I make sure I drink 2 liters of alkaline water (PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR FIRST) every day.

I seldom drink coffee and no alcohol.

Several MyBCTeam members have shared similar experiences with eye-related issues during and after chemo. While eye twitching and watering were frequently mentioned, dryness was also a recurring theme. Here are some things others have tried to manage dry eyes during and after chemo:

- Artificial tear drops to lubricate and soothe dry eyes
- Warm compresses to help relax and hydrate the eye area
- Switching from contact lenses to glasses to reduce irritation
- Avoiding eye makeup while eyes are sensitive
- Wearing sunglasses outdoors to protect eyes from wind and dust
- Using a humidifier at home to add moisture to the air

The only reason that I mentioned that is you do not want an allergic reaction after it is placed.
Hopefully, they can test a tiny sample on you..

If you try the amniotic membrane procedure, please see if you can be tested to make sure that you are not allergic to this.

Should be a way to test a small amount to rule out any problems.
