JosnNicolas,
Thank you so much!

I just tried to avoid as many chemicals as I can for things that go on my hair or skin. I use Madison Reed no harsh chemicals in it and they deliver right to your house.

Are you wondering about dyeing your hair after having a lumpectomy 12 days ago?

Since you recently had a lumpectomy, you're likely focused on recovery from surgery rather than chemotherapy-related hair concerns. Hair dye decisions typically become relevant after chemotherapy, which can cause hair loss and scalp sensitivity.

If you haven't started chemotherapy yet, you can generally continue your normal hair care routine, including dyeing your hair. However, it's always best to check with your oncologist about your specific treatment plan.

If you're planning to have chemotherapy soon, you might want to wait on dyeing your hair until after treatment is complete. Chemotherapy can make your scalp very sensitive, and hair typically falls out during treatment.

After chemotherapy, it's recommended to wait until your hair feels strong again before dyeing it - usually about three to six months after treatment ends. Many people wait six months before using permanent dyes or chemical treatments to avoid damaging fragile new hair growth.

When you're ready to dye your hair, some MyBCTeam members have had success with gentler options like ammonia-free dyes (such as Clairol Natural Instincts) or plant-based products like Herbatint. Others prefer working with a stylist familiar with post-chemo hair.

Talk with your cancer care team about your treatment timeline and when it would be safe to dye your hair based on your specific situation.
