Yes, I was given a few Tylenol with codeine. But, did not need it. I found that using a bit time with ice packs every couple of hours was helpful. They gave me a couple very cute little round ones that fit very nicely for my lumpectomy. I used a small little rectangle pillow for in the car and at home which I still use today....4.5 years out. Just habit at this point. I also started doing my range of motion and other stretching right away....but was actually supposed to wait a bit...opps.

I think the pain can be an individual issue. I had a full mastectomy with 15 lymph nodes removed and required only a combination of ibuprofen and Tylenol. I was given OxyContin but never took it.

Please request that you are able to fill the pain med prescription before, or on the day of, the surgery. It is a must. There is a trend for doctors to try to tell us that all we will need is Tylenol. Tell them no. Even if they only give you enough for one day, get that and then you can refill it if necessary. Norco is a good one and sometimes they will say to only use 1/2 of the pill. No one wants to over take pain pills, but trying to go without, when your pain is 4 or above, is not healthy for our body in any respect.

Yes everything went well. Can't beat Mayo for care and efficient. Just waiting to hear from pathology 2 to 3 days.
