Hi Jill, I was 62 when diagnosed, and the tumor was on the left side. I already have a heart murmer and an extensive family history of heart issues. I wanted the fastest way to getting healthy and enjoying my 6 month old grandson. I opted for the single mastectomy with aesthetic flat closure. I know me, I am not a patient patient! It has been 7 years since surgery- I was able to skip radiation because of going flat. I have never regretted the decision, I just pop in a prosthetic and roll on with my life. But that's me- some women really struggle with body image. You know you better than anyone. Consider everything- and then listen to that inner voice, and You Do You!
