Understanding your genetic risks can be really important, especially since genetic testing is recommended for everyone with triple-negative breast cancer and may also be suggested for those diagnosed before age 45, with bilateral breast cancer, or with a family history of breast or ovarian cancer.

During genetic counseling, you'll typically learn about:
- Your personal and family medical history
- How genetic mutations like BRCA1 and BRCA2 affect breast cancer risk
- Whether genetic testing is right for you
- What test results mean for treatment and prevention

If you test positive for a BRCA mutation, this information can help personalize your treatment options and inform screening recommendations for family members.

Unfortunately, Black and brown women are not offered genetic testing at the same rate as their white counterparts, which is a disparity that needs addressing. Educational seminars like this can help bridge that gap by empowering everyone with knowledge about genetic risks and available testing options.

The genetic counseling and testing is extremely important.

Some have this done and nothing is found.

They only test for a certain amount of mutations.
