Hello Joyce. My Medical Oncologist had me wait until I finished Chemo before I could get the flu shot. Our immune systems are extremely compromised during chemo and it could be dangerous to introduce a virus to our bodies during this a time. I hope this helps! My oncologist told me to get flu or covid shots either a couple weeks before chemo or to wait until chemo was done. She also told me it is safe to get flu or covid shots if you are taking an AI or CDK inhibitor because they are not live viruses, but not to take any shots that contain a live virus while on either type of these meds. She said if you do need a shot with a live virus you will have you go off of AI or CDK inhibitor meds before you get the live virus shot you need.
