I get PET scans every 3months now. I used to get CT scans but became sensitive to the iodine contrast injection. I also had to drink the liquid contrast before the scan. It came in 2 flavors which tasted like Gatorade. It also gave me diarrhea after drinking it. Not good if you're laying down getting a scan! I can't have CT's anymore. I also have to drink contrast before getting the injection for PETscan. They offered me the contrast drink in plain water. There's no flavor! Tastes like plain water. I don't get upset stomach anymore! One less thing to worry about! Ask the nurse if you could just drink it in plain water. It made a big difference for me. Good luck!๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘

Yes, feeling sick from contrast agents used in CT scans is a common experience. Many people feel anxious about drinking contrast agents needed for scans, and it can cause discomfort or nausea.

If you're experiencing this, you're not alone. It's one of several physical challenges that breast cancer patients face during diagnostic procedures. To help manage scan-related discomfort:
- Talk to your healthcare team about your concerns
- Ask if there are anti-nausea medications that could help
- Stay well-hydrated before and after the scan
- Try to maintain a consistent routine around scan dates to help reduce anxiety

Remember that while uncomfortable, these scans are an important part of monitoring your health during your breast cancer journey.
