Hi, my pink ladies. Today, I was really upset and angry about the results of my CT scan. I have metastatic breast cancer, which means I have cancer in my
right breast and in my left lung. I assumed my oncologist would order CT scans for both my breast and lungs, but she only requested a CT scan for my left lung.
I sent her messages asking for an explanation. She told me that a CT scan for my breast wasn't necessary since we already know I have breast cancer. She mentioned that if the tumor inโฆ read more
Hello Rezija. A pet scan would be good to have. I agree with SallyUnder. Hope and pray all goes well for you. Always stand your ground too. Proud of you ๐๐๐๐น๐๐.
Reziga, she should order a pet scan
That scan will look at all you organs from your eyes to your thighs. I just has my 3rd one done today.
Good luck.
Your mammogram should tell you what is going on with your breasts. As for the ct scan for your lung cancer it also shows if other bones or organs are also being affected. There is also a blood test that I have every six or seven months to see if my medication is working or not. It is called the cancer antigen test 27.29 maybe you could ask your doctor about that blood test. I am so sorry your going through this added stress.
In fact when my oncologist told me to get my yearly mammogram I asked why because I knew if something was there it wouldnโt be removed and she thatโs true but she still wanted to see if treatment was working
Its the tumor in the lung that is more concerning. They have to monitor its growth or to see if its shrinking from treatment. If I had a breast tumor it wouldn't be removed because I am also stage 4 and there would be no point to removal but a tumor in another organ needs to be monitored. The CA 15.3 and CA 27.29 are blood tests that also monitors MBC. The numbers will increase if cancer is spreading and decrease or remain stable if treatment is working.
