Many previously in-patient surgeries/procedures are now out-patient due to better anesthesia. Patients wake up sooner with fewer side effects from it.
@A MyBCTeam Member It was an aggressive surgery and my surgeon wanted me to feel taken care of. I was also put on the Labor and delivery wing, so not with the sick masses.
They also did it to minimize the risk of infection.
What were the reasons you stayed @A MyBCTeam Member?
I stayed in the hospital 2 days after double mastectomy and 4 days after reconstruction. This last surgery (phase 2 of reconstruction) was the first outpatient surgery I had.
