@A MyBCTeam Member Your guess is as good as mine and its very hard to research. I often wonder why these drugs affect women after just one dose and other a few months later and sometimes not until a year later and is there any correlation how much estrogen they had in their bodies to begin with. Also the women who get hot flashes, vaginal dryness, mood changes, did they or did they not get the same during menopause. There has to be reasons. Personally, I had a simple menopause, my period just stopped and that was it. My cancer is estrogen dependent 80%. Who knows. I tried to find answers and spent a lot of time but found none
Whether taking these hormone blockers or a ton of stuff that supposed to block estrogen, its not the hormone blocking drug or the supplements that is the problem, depleting estrogen any way is going to cause the same effects because its that depletion that cause the issues.
Without estrogen we are going to have side effects no matter what product causes the depletion of estrogen. Its not Anastrozole, Tamoxifen or the other AI's , anything that stops estrogen will give us the same result.
And who is going to take Hormone blockers forever like blood pressure or diabetic meds? I want to know more about these AI's, do they really only guard against recurrence while on them and if that is the case Oncologist need to tell that to their patients.
Renee, I think many women think if they aren't having any side effects after the first few months they somehow got lucky but joint, bone and muscle pain can come on in a day. One day you are fine and the next its OMG why am I so stiff or what did I do to my knee and then it gets worse and there is OMG again, could this be from Anastrozole/Letrozole and when you realize yes, it is, it really throws you because you now wonder just how bad this will get.
