I had a double mastectomy with delayed reconstruction. So straight mastectomy and no expanders. Next months I will have expander surgery. I wanted to do it all at the same time but was unable to. It was tough on me mentally that I was not prepared for. I am so anxious to finally start the reconstruction. It’s all personal preference
Hi Carol, I chose the single mastectomy, flat closure. It suited my personality and lifestyle- I am 6 years post surgery, 5 years out of active treatment (HER2+) and so far, so good- no regrets! Feel free to ask anything- Hugs!
