My oncologist told me that it’s safe to fly but I need to keep the expanders ID card with me at all times. The expanders have a metal component and it makes the screening at the airport security go off. You may want to check with your oncologist as every case is different.
Hi, I have flown a couple of times on SW, & have not had any issues at all w/my expanders going thru security. Have had expanders since April. 2nd.
I was told the same by both my oncologist and plastic surgeon.

I would ask your oncology office about both the expanders andcompression sleeve.
Compression sleeve has to be measured by a certified lymphedema PT.
If the wrong size is just purchased online, it could cause damage and possibly lymphedema.
@A MyBCTeam Member, glad to hear you have not had any issues flying, did you wear a compression sleeve? I wasn’t planning on flying anywhere anytime soon but my brother is in Phoenix and we just found out this week he has colon cancer. I’d like to go see him after I’m done with chemo so just trying to get all my ducks in a row. Thanks!
