I had an ok experience. The positioning was a bit uncomfortable, but it’s over oh so quick. They recommended Triple B Hydrating cream to apply immediately after and then again at home. It’s so good.
No underwire bras! Toward the end I had a small area under my breast that required a prescription steroid cream. Quickly resolved itself.

To me the easiest part of the whole thing.

Best wishes & Happy New Year!!

Hi Cynthia255!
Happy New Year 🎈🎆🎊!
My advice to you:
1. Keep yourself hydrated.
2. Moisturize 2 weeks before you start radiation, after each radiation treatment and continue at least a month after you finish. But don’t moisturize before each radiation treatment. Your doctor will prescribe what moisturizer to use.
YOUR SKIN WILL GET RED towards the 10 days after your radiation treatment.
3. Do not use ice pack over the radiated area.
4. Do not wear underwire bra. I used loose cotton undershirt
5. Rest as needed. Fatigue comes without notice.
6. Eat healthy.
7. Protect your skin from the sun.
8. I was advised to stop taking Vitamin A, C, E, and Selenium during my treatments. Ask your doctor regarding taking supplements.

You will be fine. Radiation is easier than chemotherapy. It’s just time consuming.

Sending hugs and prayers.

I’ve had radiation twice. In 1990 I had 6 weeks of radiation following a left breast mastectomy. In November 2023 I had a right breast lumpectomy and am currently having radiation. The only side effects for me were/are fatigue and sporadic tingling. Aquaphor is what I use to soften scar tissue and moisturize.

Happy New Year. Radiation was a breeze. Besides going every day and remembering to take cooler showers. I rubbed my aquaphor on right after I was done and again once before bed. I didn't experience a lot of the exhaustion I heard others did but days I was tired I took a nap. You will do fine.
