I think it is 6 or 8 weeks ????, depends on the surgeon. I waited way longer because I also had breast reduction surgery at the same time and needed to lose weight first for that.

I am less than 2 weeks from surgery. I understand that touch ups are done 6 mos to a year after surgery so not sure what will happen in future. I have a Mentor Boost implant. I love the feel and look of it at the moment. We'll see how it settles in after a few months. The tissue expander was a pain. I had it in for 7 months and by the end it was hard and felt like i had concrete on my chest and kind of squarish and sticking out. (I was worried that i would have a square breast) but the breast tissue seems to be settling fine around the implant. I see surgeon again in a month. When are you planning to have your exchange?

I just had silicone ones put in. PS used alloderm to make a pocket to hold them in place.

@A MyBCTeam Member My TEs are above the muscle because I requested it based on other family members’ experiences… it really seems to vary by doctor if they do one or the other. My PS was originally going to do below the muscle because there is less chance to see the edges of the implant below the skin. But below the muscle has problems of its own including “animation “ and muscle weakness possibly permanent. So I decided I would rather potentially see the edges than be weak. He also said he could do fat grafting to smooth out the edges if need be once it has settled. So I’m with you!

@A MyBCTeam Member I believe fat grafting is covered in the case of breast cancer but it might depend which insurance company.

Is fat grafting covered by insurance? My surgeon did not mention fat grafting to me.
