Is Surgery Needed If The Tumor Is Gone?

A MyBCTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

After 3 treatments my HER2+ BC is gone. If there is no lump to remove...what happens next? Does the clip/marker need to be surgically removed? If so will they take tissue as well and biopsy?

Congratulations on the great response to treatment! I'm not sure what would happen next- perhaps someone else will know. Either way, let us know when you find out for certain! Hugs!

Yes, the only was to know for sure that you had pCR, is surgery to check the pathology. They will remove the clip, and about about an inch around it. Also, they will probably check your lymph node.
Getting pCR is awesome! Hoping your surgical pathology matches you imaging!
