What can one do if one can’t take fish oil tablets and do not want statins.
Statins destroy CoQ10 which fights cancer and helps the heart and lowers inflammation.
Good morning Sue10. I'm on anastrozole for hormone therapy and I exercise more daily, avoid excess sugar and I have added more fiber to my diet. Lately I have been trying to have healthy fats over saturated fats. No bad side effects yet. Hope these suggestions help you and hope you have a great day.🙂
From the medical article abstract:
The Effect of Flaxseed in Breast Cancer: A Literature Review
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29468163/
Flaxseed has been one of the most studied foods, regarding possible relations to breast cancer, though mainly in experimental studies in animals, yet in few clinical trials. It is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, α-linolenic acid, lignan, and fibers. One of the main components of flaxseed is the lignans, of which 95% are made of the predominant secoisolariciresinol diglucoside (SDG). SDG is converted into enterolactone and enterodiol, both with antiestrogen activity and structurally similar to estrogen; they can bind to cell receptors, decreasing cell growth. Some studies have shown that the intake of omega-3 fatty acids is related to the reduction of breast cancer risk. In animal studies, α-linolenic acids have been shown to be able to suppress growth, size, and proliferation of cancer cells and also to promote breast cancer cell death. Other animal studies found that the intake of flaxseed combined with tamoxifen can reduce tumor size to a greater extent than taking tamoxifen alone. Additionally, some clinical trials showed that flaxseed can have an important role in decreasing breast cancer risk, mainly in postmenopausal women. Further studies are needed, specifically clinical trials that may demonstrate the potential benefits of flaxseed in breast cancer.

So, hopefully, there will be more studies and clinical trials info coming! Wouldn't it be great if something as simple as consuming flaxseed could allow women to take lower doses of hormone blockers since the side effects can be hard, especially if someone is looking at 5-10 years, longer for Stage 4! Hugs!
@A MyBCTeam Member I no longer eat flaxseeds because of this and also it has been found that men who eat lots of flaxseeds start to grow breast tissue. I also no longer eat tofu, edaname or use regular soy sauce. I use or eat super fermented soy sauce like shoyu, tamari and miso. Due to the super fermented properties they have major health benefits and do not increase estrogen levels. There are also some other foods I no longer eat or eat extremely little amounts of it. No more lavender too.
I bought 2 bags of Flax seed then I read Flaxseed is the richest dietary source of lignans, a type of phytoestrogen Phytoestrogens are somewhat similar to human estrogen, and some health experts have speculated that phytoestrogens might even act like human estrogen in the body. This suggestion has raised concerns about whether phytoestrogens may not be safe for people with a history of hormone-linked cancers, such as prostate cancer, endometrial cancer, or ER positive breast cancer. https://www.oncologynutrition.org/erfc/healthy-...
Hi Teri- before I started my chemo, my PCP who is an integrative physician, ran a nutrition panel to check to make sure I was in a good place. Based on those results we added a few supplements. Ask your PCP to help guide you, you do not want to take things that your body does not need, as overloading in one area, can cause issues somewhere else (and some of these supplements can really be expensive!)
