Any suggestions to help discomfort and pain from radiation fibrosis. Lotions and creams help the skin surface but breast tissue underneath is hard and sore.

Yes , but can get better. Mine already seems to move a little. I asked if I need to massage it and he said no. I have read others do.

I am 2 months post radiation and also have hard rock like breast in parts. Also I have lines that are a little raised like welts and kind of a mottled looking breast. Surgeon said last week it was normal. He also stated everyone is different, so not to compare with what others have or don't have. Sometimes I have to use a cane with the right arm and that makes breast hurt more as well as my arm. Wishing you the very best.

Hi Marjorie, Our experiences with radiation side effects are similar. I'm 11 months post treatments, 7 weeks, the last week of 5 boost sessions. My lumpectomy involved removing 2 tumors from the lower right breast and 6 lymph nodes were removed from the arm pit. After finishing radiation, my skin tightened from the arm to across the breast. The tissue became harder in the weeks following. The hardening seems to have finally slowed. I've worked with a lymphedema physical therapist, which has helped. Also working with a oncology massage therapist. Can't undo the radiation, but there has to be more options to try for these side effects!

I’m also dealing with that, along with breast edema , I’m 4 months post radiation. Side of the breast is like a rock. Extremely uncomfortable. It’s my dominate side so the arm gets constant use, making it all the more sore. I do massage, at home lymphatic drainage, nothing is helping. Onco wanted to wait 6 months to see if it would resolve on its own before referring me to OT. I swear..it was the 5 boosters of radiation that caused it. Never again would I do radiation. Hope your resolves, it’s a constant source of discofort.
