Could Anyone Define What Metastatic Means To Them?
I Understand it to be an actual medical term we are given when your primary cancer, in this case, the same type of breast cancer that you were originally diagnosed with, has spread to other parts of your body. They confirm the type of more cancer cells by biopsy/surgery and pathology. If itβs being looked at as a possibility, it would still be anxiety inducing, no doubt!

I went to the NEW Onco. She was great, I always have questions and she explained every ans. to me. Changed my med to Anastrozole, whew I was having side effects from the last one. She spent almost an hour with me.
Good luck with the new onco- let them know that they ambiguity in the terminology being used is ramping up your anxiety, and see how this one handles it. Hopefully, they are good at listening, explaining, and will be someone you feel you can trust.
Hugs!
yes. sometimes it gets confusing.
Metastatic is the disease spreading out from the original source. Is it is spread to the lymph nodes, that is metastatic stage 3, the goal is curable. If it is spread to another organ (bone, liver, etc) that is stage 4. Not curable, but can be managed for many, many years.
