Yes I had that test done. I had cancer in both breasts, so I had two separate scores - one for left tumor and one for right tumor. Thankfully both indicated chemotherapy was not recommended. In that regard, the test was helpful. My scores were 8% on one side and 3% on the other. Those %ś were encouraging to me. I did have a little back/forth with the insurance company not wanting to do 2 tests. They finally realized it was two different tumors and covered all of both tests. I had reached my out-of-pocket max for the year by that point.

I just received my Oncotype score which was 31. In talking to my doctor before he sent it off, he said he felt mine would come back low. I and he was shocked due to no lymph node involvement and caught in early stage. I do believe it is a test that needs to be had.

Yes, part of my tumor tissue was sent to CA for the Oncotype test. I did find it helpful. Definitely!

Score results are also based on factors in addition to the number (or score) you receive. You'll want to attempt to hold off on interpretation of that number until you've had the conversation with a medical oncologist or another medical person.

Specifically, my score initially meant I might need chemo. However, that was before they knew or correctly read my chart to be reminded of the fact that I am menopausal. Thus, no chemo. Menopause is just one of those "other factors' involved.

Good Luck. Keep an open mind until you discuss your result, if you chose to do the test.
