I was super excited to find out that chemo would put me directly into menopause but these hot flashes are out of control😳.... Any tips or product suggestions? I am 75% done with chemo so I am dealing with the cumulative effects of that and now these damn hot flashes. Thank god my head is bald or I would be in big trouble😂
I have a lot of Hot Flashes as well and they are miserable. The PA said they could put me on a anti depressant and I elected to not take it. I have yet to find anything that works. If you find a good remedy, please let me know. Speaking of, I have one coming on NOW!! LOL
Yup.. So I despise the steroids so I asked my oncologist if I could forego the steroids for the 3 days following treatment and he said YES!!! Way, way better this time...
I asked my oncologist said was fine odd how they all say different things. I quit taking about a month ago because haven't had a hot flash in a long time and pill box was to full. Went from taking 3 pills a day to 15. Mostly supplements but still alot to swallow.
My oncologist wouldn't allow me to take black cohosh as I was hormone receptive positive. Black cohosh is a plant hormone and he said any type of hormone, plant base or not was a no no. I had some success with a mild anti depressant. My hot flashes kicked into high gear once I was on the tamoxifen and the arimidex. I only have a little over a year left on the arimidex this time. I totally get your frustration on the hot flashes tho. My first diagnosis, I was put on tamoxifin. Roughly a year later had a hysterectomy and that's when the hot flashes really kicked into overdrive. Then they switched me to arimidex and within a month, it was unbearable. I was drinking a tea call Menopause Night from Celestial Seasonings. Best thing ever invented. Sheets stayed dry, I slept like a baby, it was amazing. When I told my oncologist about it and he asked what was in it, I said black cohosh and valerian. Both are plant- based hormones. After he told me I had to stop, I told him he was determined to make me go through hell! I knew he had my best interests at heart, but DAMMIT! that stuff made my life bearable. Check with your oncologist and see what his recommendation is and best of luck to you.
I took black cohosh when started having them really helped but should check with oncologist to make sure doesn't interfere with chemo
