Ambien And Gabapentin

Ambien And Gabapentin

I've recently been prescribed Ambien (to help me sleep)and gabapentin ( for anxiety and neuropathy numbness in hands and feet). I am so tired all the time it's making me feel depressed that I feel so wiped out. I just want to feel better! Has anyone else used these meds and felt the same, found something that worked better?

Hi -
I only have a couple of thoughts on your question. Ambien can be very helpful in some people but not everyone and can interact with other medications, so I would definitely talk to your doctor about your symptoms. There is a sublingual dose of Ambien that does not last for very long, which might help your tiredness during the day. My experience with gabapentin was that I felt very tired all of the time. I know that some people tolerate it very well, but I did not. Again, I would see what your doctor has to say about this. It might be the combination of both meds that is affecting you more.
So, my point is that I have had both meds and they both can make you very tired (that is actually the point of the Ambien!). But a shorter-acting dose might help, and I would ask about combining the two meds at the same time.
Hope this helps.

I am taking Gabapentin now because of muscle spasms after my surgery for reconstruction. It is working well. It is one of those meds you have to take to build it up in your system before it works.
