Has anyone on here stopped traditional treatment, (chemo, radiation, surgery) and gone to other more natural treatments? If so what were your results? What natural treatments did you go with? Very curious and at a point in my treatment where I’m faced with a very tough decision. Any help appreciated!
Traditional treatments have undergone years of study and have actual data from large groups of women according to the type of breast cancer and the outcome. My advice is not to be tempted by promises of alternative medicine unless you’re using it to relieve symptoms resulting from traditional medicine. For example, some have found relief from chemo side effects by using massage and acupuncture.
I think the most important thing is that whatever you follow there is credited information to back it up, I find it is difficult at times to track the research regarding the natural way, often many of the practitioners make money off of the products they sell and that doesn't sit well for me. I will be interested in what others wish to share on this topic. I ended up going the traditional route however have made an effort to practise some of the suggestions of the natural treatment as I move on in recovery, especially being aware of what I am eating and exercise.
Late answer but.....
personally, I think any treatment for cancer is "unnatural." The natural course of cancer is eventual metastases and death. I was happy to be "unnatural."
Some chemo drugs are synthetic versions of plant compounds, as well. Taxol is entirely naturally sourced, and is made from yew trees.
Thank you!
